Cupcakes for friendship day

As part of our annual FL Friendship day celebrations, we baked cupcakes for the event. (The last few years we had balloons, special heart shapes, musical dedications). Ad since it was my first time using this new microwave to bake, I decided to try out the recipe I was using (I used Magnolia's recipe as the base, but instead of using 2 types of flour, I just used all purpose flour and 2tsp of double acting baking soda) to ensure that the heat and all was appropriate for the recipe. That evening, JoTng came over to help design my trial batch of cupcakes. Check this one that she painstakingly decorated! It's got my name. =) Love it!!Really, decorating the cupcake with the stars was an exceptionally tiring task. I spent over 4 hours decorating 30 cupcakes for the FL event. Check some of the designs out. I changed the method of frosting a lil (cos I was super lazy to start the fire), so the colour came out a lil different. But since the stars were individually put, i could adjust and design each cupcake differently. But if I ever have to do so many cupcakes on this level, I'm gonna use a piped frosting. It'll be way easier.
1st tray of the cupcakes I made:The colourful heart's so pretty...

I also like the random multi-coloured stars...

Sundowner @ New Asia Bar

I always thought New Asia Bar is dead at about 8pm since it's sorta a club. But I was very surprised that when I headed there the other day at 8+pm on a saturday evening, it was quite crowded! And I like the feel. Very different from City Space (which I'm a big fan of too!) cos it's not jazz/lounge music, rather it's more upbeat clubbing music that isn't blasted too loud. Just good for conversation. And from 6pm-9pm it's sundowner, so the drinks are a lil cheaper. And most of the seats were taken. Very nice chill out place. But next time if I go, must go earlier and get a seat nearer the window, then can enjoy the beautiful scenery and the changing sky colour from bright to dark.

China Club @ Capital Tower

I was at China Club the other day for lunch and I had to take photos of the view from Capital Tower.

And for lunch, these were some of what we had. Starting with dim sum appetizers. I like how they used char siew mee as the carbo dish. Usually you'll get typical one dish carbo like yi mee or some other fried noodle/rice dish so this was different and I like the nice twist it added to the set meal.
And we ended off with 2 desserts! kekeke...

Uber Cuteness

Somehow, this year Christmas lacked the "feel", maybe I'll post in another post. But, I did catch some photos with lil Caleb and Karina, my niece who's about 1year+. Enjoy...
First up.. The handsome lil boy and me goofing around in front of the camera.

Aww.. So Sweet. With lil Karina...

It was so difficult to catch a good photo with her, cos she was sleepy and tired and not willing to entertain me.

Slow Food Movement

At my recent trip to Cambodia, I stayed at this hotel that had the logo above printed on their hotel menu and at the bottom we saw this:
We were wondering what that meant. Maybe our food will take super long to come (which that evening it did! They had to go out to buy mango to make our mango passion smoothie, but that is another story). While our food did take a very long time to come that evening, but it was very well made, really made with the heart. Afraid that they were really slow with cooking, we decided to order our breakfast the night before. HAhaha... Typical kiasu Singaporean.

Anyway, I came back and googled this "slow food movement" thingy. And here's the description: "Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world."

All about R

I'm surprised that this had an unexpected big effect on me. The sadness still lingers. They say it's the mourning period now. I wonder how long this will last. I'm slowly beginning to understand why it had to happen, but I'm still wondering if this was the right decision. It's time to move on. Hopefully...
